Oh dear.
If the title didn't give it away, I have another Beatles-related rant. It must be the Year of the Beatle or something.

So, I was looking for the rulebook for a game called Yellow Submarine, a table-top RPG for the Beatles when I found out that Robert Zemekis is remaking Yellow Submarine and is shooting for a summer 2012 release.

I like the director, I must say. He is responsible for Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Back to the Future, two classics. But, the lastest massacre, Jim Carrey's A Christmas Carol, makes me watch the news on the remake of a good 60's cartoon with a worried glance.

I fear that the movie simply cannot be remade and they are going to kill something great.

I can't say that the hope of a remake was killed on December 8th, 1980. The original had very little involvement from the Fab Four and they were only onboard in the bitter end [see 'Maybe I don't wish I was a Beatle'] and appeared in live-action form. You don't need all hands on deck for a movie to make it good. But, I have found that a lot of movies are getting remade and fail so badly. I don't want to see this one do that.

It is both timeless and time-restrictive. It is a great story, but it really should be left in the 60's. I fear that it's being remade because of a resurgence that was started because of Beatles: Rock Band.

I'm happy it's being brought back. I want to show it to my little cousin, and it would be great to just take her to the theater and sit her down. But, I still have fan-worries that can hopefully be put at ease as 2012 gets closer.
